Housebuilder’s grand support for community causes
Two worthy regional organisations are celebrating after being selected to receive community funding from a leading housebuilder.
Community of Purpose CIC and The Friends of Prince Consort Gardens have each been awarded £1,000 as part of the Persimmon Homes Severn Valley Community Champions scheme.
The national match-funding programme provides financial support to carefully selected individuals, clubs and organisations across the region.
Carly Spear, head of sales for Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said:
“We are committed to helping good causes in the towns and cities in which we are building. The Community Champions scheme aims to help groups and charities that make a real difference to the lives of local people.
“This month we are proud to be supporting the fundraising efforts of two worthy causes, who both display all the qualities that make the perfect community champion.”
Community of Purpose CIC enables young people to unlock their passions, dreams and ambitions. The project works closely with individuals, families and communities to help people identify opportunities available to them.
Paired with money already raised by the project, Community of Purpose will use the donation to help fund ‘Bristol Together Championships’, bringing together primary schools across the region and receiving quality sports coaching.
Amy Kington, from the organisation, said:
“We use sport as a stepping stone to help improve children’s confidence and communication. We’re delighted to be selected as a winner and we’re very grateful to Persimmon Homes Severn Valley.”
Prince Consort Gardens Wildlife Pond, based in Weston-super-Mare, are a small group of volunteers who work to maintain the local parks and community gardens. Persimmon Homes’ donation will go towards transforming an under-used boating pond into a haven for wildlife, with the aim of encouraging young families to take part in activities such as pond dipping.
“We’re delighted to be able to give these good causes a helping hand in their fundraising efforts.
“Community groups, charities and good causes across the county have benefited thanks to the donations from Persimmon Homes. Organisations can apply for match funding by completing a simple online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity
