How to donate
So you’ve taken the plunge and decided you’re going to help raise funds to help individuals and organisations overcome some pretty big challenges! Now it’s time to start collecting sponsorship
The most effective way is to use the justgiving COP account.
Donating through justgiving is simple, fast and totally secure. It allows you to create your own profile fundraising page giving friends, colleagues and relatives the chance to make donations to you on-line using a debit or credit card, all via a secure payment system.
To make a donation takes less than one minute and if your donor is a UK tax payer, they can tick the gift aid box adding a further 25% to their donation.
It’s important to personalise your page and keep it updated as this will inform your donors of your progress.
If your fundraising involves you being out in the community amongst donors who do not have access to the internet then having a paper sponsorship form is the way to go.
Remember to ask UK tax payers to tick the gift aid box on the form as this will allow us to add an extra 25p to every £1 that is donated.
Sending your donations by cash – If you have collected an amount in cash from a sponsored event please consider donating the equivalent amount on-line through Justgiving instead so that you can tick the gift aid box and increase the amount you raised by 25%. £500 cash donated on-line + gift aid = £625
Sending your donations by cheque – Please send donations to Community of Purpose, Durley Hill House, Old Bristol Road, Keynsham, Bristol, BS31 2AH, UK. You can increase the amount of your cheque donation by 25% by including a gift aid form (click here).
Corporate, schools and clubs – Designate Community of Purpose your good cause of the year and plan a calendar of innovative fundraising events. Encourage your company to set.
