We Are a Community of Supporters…

We believe that transforming lives and communities means engaging people with a range of different skills, resources and time. We’re not about doing things to people but doing with.

We work closely with individuals, groups and businesses to help them understand the valuable role they can play in the community.

We are Community of Purpose, and we’re looking for the following to join in.

Individuals. Groups. Organisations.

3 Peaks Challenge

On the 22nd July 2017, Amy and 13 friends took on the 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust and local good causes that supported her family when her brother was diagnosed with cancer in 2015.

Amy’s brother, Josh was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, aged 22, and was treated on the charity’s unit at Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre.

Amy, who is CEO at Community of Purpose, said:

“Two years ago Josh started to develop symptoms of what we now know was one of the tell-tale signs of Hodgkins Lymphoma; he suffered with night sweats and skin irritation. We went back and forth to our local GPs for nearly seven months before it was finally diagnosed. At the time we couldn’t believe it, he was young, fit and healthy and didn’t even drink. It came as a complete shock.”

This year Amy will be joining other #TeamTeenageCancer runners who are taking to the streets of London for young people with cancer. You can give her that extra boost and show your support by sponsoring her today.

Amy said…

“My brother Josh was a former patient of the Teenage Cancer Trust’s specialist unit within the Oncology in Bristol, I’ve always said “Teenage Cancer Trust is the only charity I’d want to run for”.

Josh was diagnosed in 2015 with Hodgkins lymphoma and without the help and support of the charity, his treatment wouldn’t have been as comfortable as it was. It was like a dream come true when I got the email offering me a place to run the marathon on behalf of the charity whom my family and I feel we owe so much to. The work that it does to promote cancer amongst young people is amazing – anything I can do to help that is exciting.

This is the first time I’ve ever attempted a marathon and so far my training has been going well. I’m making good pace to complete in my target time (around 4:30 / 4:45).

My fundraising is so far going well. I’ve set up a couple of things at work and socially – a quiz at Gloucestershire Cricket Club and friends of mine have climbed the 3 peaks, organised bake-offs and prosecco events in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust and other local good causes.”
